You're in a great place!!

Welcome to the UMaine Process Development Center Website

The UMaine Process Development Center (PDC) is pleased to offer its facility, equipment, and expertise for cooperative research and development projects. For over twenty-five years, the PDC has served a unique role in supporting public-private partnerships, particularly with the Forest Products Industry. We can work closely with you, whether you are an early-stage or established global company, across all stages of your project, from concept development and innovation, to demonstration and validation, and towards successful commercialization.

The PDC is well equipped to work with a wide range of raw materials and processes including pulping, bleaching, papermaking, coating, and finishing. We have collaborated with hundreds of clients over the years, in both long and short-term projects. The PDC also has paper testing and analytical capabilities, and serves as a rapid response testing facility for situations that require timely resolution. Recent studies include the new product innovations from forest- or agriculturally-derived materials, a novel non-toxic grease-proof coating additive, a new class of environmental remediation technology, development of various non-chlorine bleaching processes, process equipment evaluations, and fiber quality studies.

We invite you to check out our website and contact us for more information.
